My name is Maritza from southern California. Here I have a successful surrogate story to share with you.
After I had my own two beautiful babies, I ran across an article online and learned that many parents have infertility issues that could prevent them from getting pregnant on their own. As my husband and I already completed the goals of having two babies, I thought it would be nice to help achieve the baby dream for someone who really desired to have a baby. Therefore,I talked to my friend, and she introduced me to ACRC. I had a pleasant conversation with the coordinator and filled out an application. I did all of the per-qualification requirements and waited for a response. Within two week, I was approved to become a surrogate. Then,A week later, I received a call from the coordinator and told that an intended parent wanted to match with me. It was shocking, I even asked the coordinator, "is this real?, I didn't expect that I could be matched that quickly." The match meeting went very well. It took about 25-30 minutes. The parents were so pleasant, and looked so grateful. We got to know each other a little bit about our life, hobbies, and family. The mother explained to me that she could not have a baby on her own because her uterus wasn't strong enough. They had many failed attempts to get pregnant and no luck. I can tell by the look on their face that they really wanted to start a family. After hearing their story, it was an automatic YES for me to work with them. I knew right then and there the reason why I ran across that article and why I applied to ACRC.
During the surrogacy journey, there are many great memories. One moment pop up in my minds is that, As a surrogate mother, I started getting to the medications part of the transfer cycle. After a few days of taking my medication, my body started to feel weird so I went to the emergency room. This was around midnight, almost one in the morning. I called my IVF nurse to let her know what happened and why I was at the hospital. Within a couple minutes everyone on the ACRC team began calling me to make sure I was okay. It made me feel very special to know that the staff was available for me anytime of day, and even more special to know that everyone was willing to call me and check in on me so late into the night. That moment made me feel that I became a surrogate with the right agency! I got taken care of the entire journey and I am forever thankful for that!
During this process, I realized that this isn't about compensation at all. The baby in my body is everything. I love that everyone is paying attention to you, and they are very supportive and work hard to make you feel that you are appreciated and honored for doing such a beautiful thing.
Here is a picture to share with you while the baby was here to meet her mom and dad.
Good luck for great beginings, wishing you the best for every step in your journey!
